Quebec men face charges for sexual offenses and child pornography

Two separate legal proceedings involving sexual offenses and child pornography have taken place in Quebec.

Hugues Gingras, 47, of Drummondville, faces five charges including the production and possession of child pornography, as well as the production of material involving sexual abuse and exploitation. The charges cover various periods between May 2025 and May 2026. Additionally, Gingras is accused of surreptitiously observing individuals in circumstances where they had a reasonable expectation of privacy. The Crown prosecutor has requested strict release conditions, including prohibitions against being in the presence of minors or holding positions involving contact with them.

In a separate case, Philippe Pierre Thomas, 52, of Sayabec, pleaded guilty to certain sexual offense charges at the Amqui courthouse. He was sentenced to 18 months of detention, which is largely covered by his time in pre-trial custody. Thomas will remain in custody to await a trial scheduled for December regarding other charges, which include voyeurism, sexual assault, harassment, and assault. His legal history includes previous charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography dating back to 2005.
