Quebec murder suspect detained after arrest in Burnaby, British Columbia
Police from British Columbia and Quebec collaborated to arrest a man wanted for the 2022 murder of Sébastien Giroux in Montreal. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C., together with Metro Vancouver Transit Police and Quebec investigators, served a search warrant at a residence in Burnaby and took the suspect into custody. The arrest follows earlier charges against three individuals in connection with the May 11, 2022 killing, two of whom had already been arrested while another remained at large. The detainee appeared before a judge and was remanded for six days pending extradition to Quebec to face the murder charge. Authorities highlighted the operation as an example of effective inter‑provincial intelligence sharing.
