Quebec paramedics reject employer offer by 92%
Members of the Fraternité des travailleurs et travailleuses du préhospitalier du Québec (FTPQ), an affiliate of the SCFP, have rejected an employer's offer by a 92% margin. The union stated that the current proposal fails to provide the recognition workers are seeking regarding salary and working conditions.
Key unresolved issues include retirement conditions, working conditions for part-time employees, and the application of a specific premium that the union claims creates regional disparities. FTPQ President Sébastien Gourre emphasized that members are seeking permanent solutions rather than temporary measures to address field issues.
The union intends to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible and plans to implement significant pressure tactics and mobilization strategies in the coming weeks. This rejection follows a recent trend in Quebec, where members of the FSSS also rejected a principle agreement for Urgences-santé in Montreal and Laval.
