Quebec political candidates announce runs in Duplessis and Portneuf

Several political candidates have announced their runs for upcoming elections in Quebec. Alexandre Deschênes has filed his candidacy for the Parti Marxiste-Léniniste du Québec in the Duplessis riding. Deschênes, an artist and outreach worker, is entering his seventh electoral campaign and intends to focus on workers' rights, First Nations rights, and regional issues such as demographic decline and homelessness.

In the Portneuf riding, Raymond Francoeur has announced his candidacy for the Parti Québécois. Francoeur, a former mayor of Sainte-Christine-d’Auvergne and former ADQ MNA, stated his decision is driven by a desire to restore public confidence in government. He expressed dissatisfaction with the current CAQ administration and emphasized his commitment to Quebec sovereignty.
