Quebec political parties announce candidates for 2026 election

Political parties in Quebec are intensifying their preparations for the provincial general election scheduled for October 5, 2026, by announcing several key candidates across various ridings.

The Parti libéral du Québec (PLQ) has named John McGrath, a civil engineer with expertise in water treatment and municipal infrastructure, as its candidate for the Chauveau riding. In Rimouski, the PLQ has also confirmed Étienne Pineau Saindon as its candidate.

The Parti québécois (PQ) has selected mountaineer Charles Page to represent the Drummond–Bois-Francs region. Page, known for climbing the world's five highest peaks, aims to represent his home region and advance the party's independence platform.

The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) has announced Patrick Saindon, an aviation professional with experience at Bombardier and a former municipal councillor, for the new Marie-Lacoste-Gérin-Lajoie riding. Additionally, the CAQ is expected to reveal its candidate for Rimouski shortly, where it will attempt to defend a seat previously held by Maïté Blanchette Vézina.
