Quebec political parties propose diverse cost of living solutions

Quebec's provincial political parties have presented varying strategies to address the cost of living and labour conditions. The Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) advocates for tax cuts as the primary solution, claiming their plan could save the average household approximately $11,000 over five years.

Other parties have proposed direct interventions. Québec Solidaire (QS) aims to reduce grocery costs by 15% through the creation of 15 public grocery stores and by capping profit margins at 2%. The Parti Québécois (PQ) proposes adding $100 million annually to food assistance programs.

Family support measures also differ across platforms. The incumbent Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) and the Liberals (PLQ) propose extending parental leave by two weeks, while QS suggests a five-week extension. The PCQ proposes a $100 weekly payment for women staying home to care for children, and the PQ suggests an annual increase of $700 per child.
