Quebec political parties unveil agricultural and economic election platforms

As the Quebec election campaign progresses, major political parties are unveiling specific platforms. The Parti libéral du Québec (PLQ), led by Charles Milliard, has proposed redistributing $560 million over four years to farmers. Their plan includes reforming the Financière agricole du Québec and creating regional logistics hubs to improve the storage, transport, and distribution of Quebec products.

The Parti québécois (PQ) has proposed an additional investment of $450 million over four years. Their platform focuses on increasing the government budget for agriculture from 0.9% to 1.5% and emphasizes the protection of agricultural land through legal reforms. Additionally, PQ candidate Natalie Bisaillon has advocated for targeted economic responses to international trade tensions rather than systematic counter-tariffs.

Other movements are also active in the campaign. The Parti communiste du Québec (PCQ) has launched its campaign focusing on social housing, wage equity, and sovereignty. Meanwhile, teacher unions from various CEGEPs have announced a demonstration in Carleton-sur-Mer to demand increased investment in regional colleges to ensure their vitality.
