Quebec protesters rally at National Assembly for climate and social justice
In Quebec, more than 200 people gathered for a demonstration in front of the National Assembly to protest against the degradation of living conditions, the weakening of democratic rights, and the climate emergency. The event was organized by the Regional Coalition for Social and Climate Justice in conjunction with the Riposte populaire movement.
Organizers noted that the goal was to converge various struggles during the week preceding elections to increase political pressure. While participation was lower than the 25,000 people who attended a climate march in the same city in 2019, organizers suggested that the current economic and political instability, combined with the electoral context, makes mobilization more complex.
