Quebec advance voting shows significant participation across ridings

Advance voting for the Quebec provincial elections has seen significant participation across various ridings. The provincial average for advance voting participation stands at approximately 23.59%.

In specific regions, turnout rates varied: Sanguinet reported 28.29% and La Prairie reached 29.76%. In the Outaouais region, the rate was 21.6%, while the Drummond–Bois-Francs riding saw 22.80%. The Châteauguay riding recorded a participation rate of 19.34%, similar to 2022 levels.

Regarding the legality of sharing ballot photos on social media, Élections Québec spokesperson Julie St-Arnaud-Drolet noted that while the law does not strictly prohibit sharing one's own vote, doing so means the voter is choosing to waive their right to secrecy. She emphasized that the secret ballot is intended to prevent voter pressure and ensure free choice. Additionally, while taking photos or videos is prohibited inside polling stations, the agency noted that once a voter is alone in the voting booth, they may choose to use their phone, though they are prohibited from wearing partisan clothing or messages at the polling site.
