Quebec university athletic teams begin competitive seasons

Various Quebec university athletic teams have commenced their competitive seasons with mixed results. In football, the University of Montreal Carabins secured a dominant 53–21 victory over the University of Sherbrooke Vert et Or. The Carabins established a 38–0 lead by halftime, driven by three rushing touchdowns from quarterback Mathieu Barsalou.

In soccer, the UQTR Patriotes experienced contrasting outcomes across different programs. The men's team secured a 2–0 win against the McGill University Redbirds, with Alexandre Marcoux scoring the opening goal. Conversely, the women's soccer team suffered a 2–1 loss to the McGill Martlets, despite a penalty goal from Céline Deraedt Sfyrogiannakis.
