Originally recorded during a spontaneous session at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland, the song was born from an improvisation after a planned collaboration on the track ‘Cool Cat’ failed to materialize. While the single reached number one in the United Kingdom upon its 1981 release, it had a more modest peak of number 29 in the United States.

The song has demonstrated significant longevity, accumulating a total of 300 weeks across various Billboard charts. It was previously recognized by Rolling Stone readers as the greatest duet of all time.
