Queen drummer Roger Taylor recalls band's early years

Queen drummer Roger Taylor has shared recollections regarding the band’s early years and their formative musical practices. Ahead of his solo album release, 'Violence Insane in a Beautiful World', Taylor revealed that the group perfected their signature vocal harmonies by singing in a cave on a Cornish beach to take advantage of the 'big sound'.

Taylor also detailed the band’s first concert, which took place in Truro in June 1970 to raise funds for the British Red Cross. The performance featured Taylor on drums, Brian May on guitar, and Freddie Mercury—then known as Fred Bulsara—on vocals. It was during this event that Mercury announced the group's new name, Queen. The setlist included original compositions such as 'Stone Cold Crazy' and 'Son and Daughter', alongside rock 'n' roll covers.
