Queen Elisabeth of Romania musical tour to span seven cities
The “REGINA și COMPOZITORII” international tour, organized by the InoMusicArt Association and co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN), will take place from October 13 to November 27, 2026. The project commemorates the 110th anniversary of the passing of Queen Elisabeth of Romania, who was known in literary circles by the pseudonym Carmen Sylva.
Initiated by soprano Rodica Vică, the tour aims to revitalize the musical and poetic legacy of Queen Elisabeth. The program includes seven events held in Bucharest, Sinaia, Brașov, London, Paris, Vienna, and Tokyo. The project highlights the musical heritage built around her poetry, which has inspired composers such as George Enescu, Hans Sommer, Felix Weingartner, August Bungert, and Agathe Backer-Gröndahl.
In addition to performing existing repertoire, the tour will feature the absolute premiere of two new song cycles for soprano and piano. These works, commissioned from composers Andrei Petrache and Radu Mihalache, are based on Romanian translations of the Queen's lyrics. The concerts feature soprano Rodica Vică alongside pianists Kira Frolu and others.
