Queen Elizabeth Hospital launches major modernisation and expansion projects

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is undergoing significant modernisation and expansion through two major initiatives. The facility has ordered $82 million in new equipment as part of a broader $130 million capital investment. This includes the commissioning of the hospital’s first magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, the implementation of a new waste management system to replace the current incinerator, and the digitisation of approximately 170,000 legacy patient records.

Simultaneously, a $390 million rehabilitation project is underway at the Enmore site. This project aims to add roughly 19,320 square metres of medical and administrative space. Due to the construction, which is expected to last between 32 and 42 months, 23 departments and outpatient clinics have been temporarily relocated to nearby facilities in Coconut Walk, George Street, Belleville, and Wildey to ensure continued patient access.
