Queen Elizabeth II footage shows corgis interrupting side-saddle riding

Former royal gardener Jack Stooks has shared rare footage capturing Queen Elizabeth II practicing side-saddle riding at Buckingham Palace. The video shows the late monarch riding her horse, Burmese, moving from the palace riding school toward the rose gardens.

During the footage, the Queen’s corgis cause a brief distraction when one spirited dog runs toward the horse while barking. The monarch is seen reacting with amusement while maintaining control of the animal.

Queen Elizabeth practiced side-saddle riding in preparation for the annual Trooping the Colour parade. She continued this tradition until 1986, when Burmese retired. Following the horse's retirement, the Queen transitioned to traveling in a carriage for the event.
