Queen Latifah discusses casting challenges for upcoming biopic

Queen Latifah has indicated that casting her upcoming biopic may require multiple actresses to accurately portray the various stages of her life and career. Speaking at Variety’s Power of Women summit, the hip-hop icon and actress noted that her journey—spanning music, acting, producing, and entrepreneurship—is so multifaceted that it might take up to three different performers to capture her entire history.

The film is being developed by Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment in partnership with Westbrook Studios and Jesse Collins Entertainment. The project is intended to be part of a broader slate of biopics focused on influential figures in hip-hop. Will Smith, whose Westbrook Studios is involved in the production, is also expected to have a role in the project.
