Queen Letizia inaugurates vocational training year amid record enrollment

Queen Letizia inaugurated the 2026-2027 vocational training (FP) school year at the IES Ribera del Tajo in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo. She was accompanied by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, and the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page.

Enrollment in vocational training in Spain has reached a record high of 1,248,046 students, representing a 3.1% increase from the previous year and a 57% growth over the last decade. During the visit, the Queen and officials toured facilities at the center, which is part of the national network of excellence centers specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.

Key projects showcased included robotics, AI development for healthcare, and administrative management simulations. The visit also highlighted specialized facilities such as the ‘Virtualia’ soundproof booth, a data processing center, and a cytodiagnosis and pathology laboratory.
