Queen Letizia meets Dominican scholarship recipients and tours Adolfo Domínguez factory

Queen Letizia received six young women from the Dominican Republic in an audience at the Zarzuela Palace. They are the first cohort of a university scholarship programme run by Banco ADOPEM in partnership with the BBVA Microfinance Foundation, which funds full tuition, laptops, tutoring and psychosocial support for daughters of micro‑enterprise clients. The scholars, from Santo Domingo, Los Alcarrizos, La Vega and Navarrete, spoke about their families and future plans.

Later in the visit, the queen inspected the Adolfo Domínguez garment factory in San Cibrao, Galicia, wearing a multicolour cotton dress from the label. The stop coincided with the brand’s 50th anniversary and its return to Mercedes‑Benz Fashion Week, with company executives and a ministry official present.
