Queen Letizia of Spain slips and falls on fishing boat

Queen Letizia of Spain experienced a brief mishap during an official visit to Llanes, Asturias, on Saturday, October 24. While touring the fishing vessel Nuevo Sandra María as part of an event to present the 'Exemplary Town of Asturias 2026' award to the Santa Ana Fishermen's Guild, the Queen lost her balance and fell onto the deck.

The incident, which was captured on video by various outlets including Hola!, occurred as the royal family was navigating the boat. Despite the sudden fall, the Queen remained composed, stood up quickly, and continued with the official program. Her daughter, Infanta Sofía, was seen rushing to her aid, and although the fall caused a momentary stir, no injuries were reported.

The visit took place despite recent rough sea conditions in the region, which had initially raised doubts about whether the royal family would be able to board the vessel. The royal party included King Felipe VI and Princess Leonor, who also participated in the ceremony and delivered a speech regarding the local history and the role of women in the community.
