Queen Letizia visits former school in Oviedo to inaugurate school year

Queen Letizia of Spain returned to the Gesta Public School in Oviedo to inaugurate the 2026-2027 school year. This visit marks a significant personal milestone, as the school is where she studied from age seven to thirteen.

During the visit, the Queen interacted with students across various grade levels. In a primary school classroom, she participated in a 3D modeling lesson and received a handmade book titled ‘Pequeño azul, pequeño rojo’ created by the students. She also visited an infant classroom, where she joined students in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to a four-year-old pupil.

The Queen was accompanied by Education Minister Milagros Tolón and received by local authorities, including the President of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, and the Mayor of Oviedo, Alfredo Canteli. In addition to school activities, she engaged with university students nearby, advising them to ‘combine theory and practice’ for their future careers.
