Queen Letizia visits former school in Oviedo
Queen Letizia visited La Gesta public school in Oviedo to symbolically inaugurate the 2026-2027 school year. The visit held deep personal significance, as the Queen attended the school from 1980 to 1986.
Accompanied by Asturias President Adrián Barbón and Minister of Education Milagros Tolón, the Queen toured various facilities, including an ‘aula del futuro’ (classroom of the future). There, she observed students using 3D applications and hologram projections. She also visited an early childhood classroom and observed students practicing yoga as part of an emotional well-being program.
A highlight of the visit was an emotional reunion with her former teachers, including Estrella Itza and María Julia Díaz.
