Queen Mary and King Frederik attend memorial in Tasmania
King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark have traveled to Hobart, Tasmania, to attend a private memorial service for the Queen’s father, John Donaldson.
Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson passed away on April 11 at the age of 84. While the Danish Royal House initially described the couple's trip to Australia as a private stay abroad, the official royal calendar confirmed the specific purpose of the visit to honor the late professor.
Queen Mary previously shared her grief following her father's passing, stating, “My heart is heavy, and my thoughts are dark. But I know: When the grief has subsided, the memories will brighten my day.” This visit marks the royal couple's second trip to Australia this year, following an official state visit in March.
