Queen Mary attends Carlsberg Foundation anniversary and portrait unveiling

Queen Mary of Denmark attended the 150th anniversary of the Carlsberg Foundation at Frederiksborg Castle on September 25. The event included the unveiling of King Frederik X’s first painted portrait since his accession to the throne.

For the occasion, the Queen wore a white Toni Maticevski midi dress featuring gold accents and a sheer, draped panel. The garment is a piece from her existing wardrobe, originally worn in 2014 for Prince Henrik’s 80th birthday concert.

The new royal portrait, painted by Danish artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, depicts the King in formal uniform. The work is noted for blending traditional monarchical portrait conventions with modern artistic styles, utilizing visible brushstrokes and translucent layers.
