Queen Mary of Denmark cancels royal engagement following father's memorial

Queen Mary of Denmark has canceled her long-standing participation in the unveiling of the new Julemærke Christmas stamp, an event she has patronized since 2004. The foundation representing the Julemærkehjemmene children's convalescent homes announced that Her Majesty would be unable to attend this year.

The Queen's absence follows a private trip to Hobart, Tasmania, where she and King Frederik X attended a memorial service for her late father, Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson. The royal couple traveled to the Queen's birthplace to pay their final respects following his passing earlier this year.

While the Queen is known for her reliable schedule and extensive patronage of various organizations, including the UNFPA and the Danish Refugee Council, this cancellation is linked to the family's private period of mourning.
