Queen Mathilde attends UN General Assembly in New York

Queen Mathilde of Belgium participated in several high-profile events during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. She visited the 9/11 Memorial to lay a wreath and a white rose in honor of Patric Braut, a Belgian citizen killed in the attacks.

On the sidelines of the assembly, Queen Mathilde organized a high-level meeting titled ‘Invisible Architecture: Building Safe Digital Systems for Children’ in collaboration with UNICEF and the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services. The session addressed the need for global digital safety standards to protect children online.

Other royal attendees included Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Queen Rania of Jordan. During the assembly, King Abdullah II of Jordan delivered a speech addressing the global repercussions of the U.S.-Iran conflict, noting its impact on energy and grocery costs for families worldwide.
