Queen Maxima to inaugurate WorldPride Amsterdam 2026

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands will officially open WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 on Saturday, 25 July 2026, making her the first reigning queen to inaugurate the global LGBTQIA+ celebration. The opening ceremony will take place in Vondelpark, followed by a programme that includes a Pride Walk, a Canal Parade, a human‑rights conference and numerous cultural and sporting events.

The festival, which runs from 25 July to 8 August, also marks the 25th anniversary of the world’s first legal same‑sex marriages in the Netherlands (2001). Prior to the inauguration, Maxima will visit the Sport Pride and Youth Pride sites, meet community representatives and highlight the Dutch monarchy’s long‑standing support for diversity, inclusion and equal rights.
