Queen Mette-Marit cancels historic Norwegian Parliament opening
Queen Mette-Marit of Norway has canceled her attendance at the historic opening of the Storting, the Norwegian Parliament, due to a respiratory infection. This event marks the first time King Haakon VIII has opened the parliament as monarch.
This absence follows previous health concerns for the Queen. Following a lung transplant in June, she has been undergoing a rehabilitation program that medical professionals expect to last approximately one year. The Royal Palace confirmed the cancellation to media outlets NRK and Dagbladet.
