Queen Mette-Marit faces low trust in Norwegian poll

A recent opinion poll conducted by Verian for the Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 reveals a significant gap in public trust between Queen Mette-Marit and her daughter, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

According to the survey of 985 people, only 35 percent of respondents expressed strong or considerable trust in Queen Mette-Marit. In contrast, 73 percent of those surveyed expressed high levels of trust in the 22-year-old Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra. Data analyst Terje Sørensen described the discrepancy as “remarkable” and noted it falls well outside the margin of error.

The Queen's declining popularity follows a period of personal challenges, including her battle with pulmonary fibrosis and previous scrutiny regarding connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Additionally, the public perception has been impacted by the legal issues involving her son, Marius.
