Queen Mette-Marit misses Norwegian inauguration due to health complications

Queen Mette-Marit of Norway was unable to attend the historic inauguration of King Haakon VIII following the death of King Harald V. Her absence was due to medical complications arising from a lung transplant she underwent in July to treat chronic pulmonary fibrosis.

Following the passing of 89-year-old King Harald V on August 31, Haakon VIII ascended to the throne. While the royal family attended the funeral services at Asker Church, the Queen was hospitalized for several hours due to post-operative complications. Medical professionals noted that such complications are common for organ transplant recipients, though they require close monitoring and rest.

Due to her ongoing recovery and the need for medical supervision, the Queen's participation in official duties remains limited.
