Queen Mette-Marit of Norway finds solace in weaving
Queen Mette-Marit of Norway has shared personal reflections on using weaving as a way to find calm and recharge. The 53-year-old monarch spoke about the craft in connection with the ‘Threads of Time’ exhibition at Oslo’s Dronning Sonja KunstStall museum.
In a statement released by the Norwegian Royal House, the Queen noted that weaving requires patience and allows her to slow down. She also highlighted the activity as a vital part of Norway’s cultural heritage, noting that textile work has been a part of the nation's history for thousands of years.
These comments come as the Queen continues her recovery following a lung transplant. She has temporarily withdrawn from official engagements and is not expected to resume her full duties until next summer. She has not been seen in public since attending a funeral in late September.
