Queen Mette-Marit of Norway resurfaces in personal photo
Queen Mette-Marit of Norway has made a rare public appearance via a personal photograph shared by the Royal House. The image shows the Queen seated at a wooden loom at her home in Skaugum, intended to mark the reopening of the “Threads in Time” tapestry exhibition at the Queen Sonja Art Stable in Oslo.
The exhibition, which features royal tapestries created between 1899 and 1955, had previously been closed during the official mourning period following the death of King Harald V. In a personal message accompanying the photo, Mette-Marit described weaving as a source of calm and a “refuge,” noting that the craft requires patience and provides a sense of time and space.
The appearance comes as the Queen continues her recovery following a major lung transplant surgery. The Norwegian Royal House has indicated that she will remain withdrawn from official institutional duties until the summer of 2027 to focus on her health and rehabilitation.
