Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra nominated for Jenteprisen

Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra are among the 68 nominees for the 2026 Jenteprisen (The Girls' Prize), awarded by Plan International Norway. The prize, which celebrates efforts toward girls' rights and gender equality, will be presented on October 11, coinciding with the International Day of the Girl Child.

Queen Sonja's nomination highlights her commitment to the situation of minority women and gender equality. Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra is also recognized as a source of inspiration and comfort for many. The diverse list of nominees includes social debaters, content creators, local activists, and various organizations.

Gunvor Knag Fylkesnes, Secretary General of Plan Norway, noted an increasing global pressure on girls' rights, including issues such as denied education, child marriage, and violence. Domestically, the organization observes that young women face online harassment and threats when exercising their voices.
