Queen Sonja receives floral tributes in Slottsparken

Following the death of King Harald, members of the Norwegian public have gathered at the statue of Queen Sonja in Slottsparken to express their support and sympathy. The statue, known as ‘Turdronningen’ (The Hiking Queen), has been almost entirely covered by a vast array of flowers, flags, and personal messages left by citizens.

Observers note that the floral tributes serve as a spontaneous declaration of solidarity, intended to show the Queen that she is not alone in her grief. Many visitors, including journalists and citizens of various ages, have described the display as a moving sign of national mourning and care for the Queen after her long life and partnership with the late King.
