Bronx police detain man after mother found dead in apartment

Authorities in the Bronx have taken 33-year-old Bob Johnny Guzmán Soto into custody in connection with the death of his mother, Josefina Soto. The victim was found dead in her Grand Concourse apartment on Friday afternoon with blunt force trauma to her head and torso.

Neighbors reported that Guzmán Soto may have struggled with mental health issues, noting previous incidents in the home. The victim's husband stated that Josefina had been preparing for a vacation to the Dominican Republic and intended to bring her son along. The family plans to repatriate her remains to the Dominican Republic.
