Queens, New York experiences two violent robberies targeting a jewelry store and teen scooter riders

On the evening of July 15, a 33‑year‑old man was beaten and robbed of a necklace and bracelet inside a Payomatic check‑cashing store at 30‑14 31st St. in Astoria, Queens. Police say three male suspects surrounded the victim, assaulted him, removed the jewelry and fled in a gray vehicle. The NYPD released surveillance images and offered a reward of up to $3,500 for information leading to their arrest.

Later that same day, a crew of seven assailants attacked three teenagers near 111th Street and 49th Avenue in Corona, Queens. The attackers threw rocks at two 15‑year‑olds and a 17‑year‑old, then stabbed the older teen in the back and shoulder and slashed the younger teen’s face before stealing an electric scooter. Eighteen‑year‑old Luinyerbed Marcanoliendo of Brooklyn was arrested on robbery, gang assault and weapons charges; the remaining suspects remain at large. All victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center and listed in stable condition.
