Queen's University Belfast students to compete in NASA lunabotics contest
A team of ten engineering students from Queen's University Belfast (QUB) in Northern Ireland is traveling to Florida to compete in a NASA-led lunabotics competition. The team earned their spot after winning a previous competition earlier this year.
The competition, held at the University of Central Florida, involves university teams from the United States, Australia, and India. The students have designed a laboratory-built robot intended to simulate lunar operations, including digging, collecting lunar material, navigating obstacles, and using collected materials to construct a wall.
The project is divided into three specialized groups focusing on software, electronics, and mechanical components. The software team is specifically tasked with ensuring the rover's autonomous capabilities and control through simulated testing prior to the competition.
