Queensland bridge projects reach key construction milestones
Construction milestones have been achieved on two major Queensland road infrastructure projects. The Rockhampton Ring Road's Capricorn Highway connector bridge received its first of 150 locally‑manufactured Super T‑girders, part of a total of 976 girders for 17 bridges across the $1.2 billion project. Federal Minister for Infrastructure Catherine King said the work will improve safety, flood resilience and freight efficiency for Central Queensland.
In the City of Moreton Bay, the Youngs Crossing upgrade saw the placement of the first of 83 precast concrete girders for a new 200‑metre flood‑resilient four‑lane bridge over the North Pine River. The $51.6 million federally funded project, with additional Queensland Government support, aims to reduce flooding, congestion and improve transport links for tens of thousands of residents and businesses, with completion targeted for late 2027.
