Queensland celebrates Seniors Month with community programs
Queensland is observing Seniors Month throughout October, featuring various community initiatives designed to support older residents. The month aims to celebrate the contributions of seniors to society while promoting social connection, wellbeing, and independence.
In the Sunshine Coast, the Council is offering programs such as the Healthy Sunshine Coast initiative, which provides low-cost activities including yoga, Pilates, and meditation. Additionally, local libraries are hosting free events ranging from technology assistance to family history resources, and the Council Link service provides accessible transport for eligible residents.
In Rockingham, the City is hosting a Seniors and Carers Expo on October 9 at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex. The event will feature over 120 exhibitors providing information on health, aged care, volunteering, and local community services to help seniors and their caregivers stay informed and connected.
