A 23-year-old man from Noosa has been issued more than $3,100 in fines after being caught speeding twice within a 10-minute window by Queensland police officers.

The first interception occurred at approximately 4:15pm on the Bruce Highway near Coles Creek. State Highway Patrol officers observed the driver, operating an HSV Maloo, overtaking at 155km/h in a 100km/h zone. This incident resulted in a $1,986 fine, eight demerit points, and a six-month driver's license suspension. The driver also received a $345 fine for an illegally altered license plate.

Less than 10 minutes later, Gympie Highway Patrol officers intercepted the same driver on the Old Bruce Highway near Traveston. The driver was recorded traveling 90km/h in a 60km/h zone, resulting in an additional $777 fine and four demerit points. Acting Inspector Specialist Operations Paul Kelly stated that the repeated speeding in such a short timeframe demonstrates a “complete disregard for the law, the driver’s own safety, and the safety of other road users.”
