Queensland expands trade and space industry ambitions
The Queensland Government has introduced the Queensland-Latin America Trade and Investment Strategy 2026-28. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties across the mining, energy, agriculture, and education sectors. Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates stated the strategy is intended to secure investment and deliver jobs by leveraging shared strengths, particularly in critical mineral resources and mining technology.
Simultaneously, Queensland is positioning itself as a central component of Australia’s commercial space strategy. The state’s geographic advantages, including access to equatorial orbital trajectories and open coastlines, make it a candidate for space infrastructure development. This includes potential growth in launch capabilities, testing ranges, and specialized supply chains as Australia seeks to expand its domestic industrial capability and access to global space markets.
