Queensland Government seeks partners for South Bank redevelopment
The Queensland Government and South Bank Corporation have launched an industry process to find private sector partners for a 4.8-hectare redevelopment project in South Bank. The initiative aims to revitalize the precinct ahead of the 2032 Olympics, focusing on the replacement of the existing Main Lagoon, which has suffered from significant water leakage issues.
Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie stated that a new lagoon and upgraded public spaces are “non-negotiable outcomes” of the project. The redevelopment will explore integrated commercial development, retail, and improved parklands while preserving the area's character as a public destination. The current invitation for prequalification seeks organizations with the investment capacity and experience to participate in this early market process.
