Queensland Minister announces $3.3M for domestic violence services
Queensland Minister Amanda Camm has announced $3.3 million in funding for domestic violence services to support referrals and assessments. This announcement follows recent criticism regarding the government’s decision to cut nearly $40 million from the sector in a previous budget.
Amidst scrutiny following an alleged murder in Brisbane, Minister Camm declined to provide specific updates on the implementation of the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce recommendations. She stated that the government is “calmly and methodically working through those recommendations” in accordance with a delivery plan, but did not provide a timeline or specific figures regarding progress on the nearly 300 recommendations made in 2021 and 2022.
