Queensland police charge 11 people in teenage torture case
Eleven people, including several teenagers, have been charged in connection with the alleged torture of a 17-year-old boy in Queensland, Australia. The victim was discovered by joggers on July 18 in the bushland near Cape Pallarenda Road in Townsville. He had been zip-tied, wrapped in plastic, and tied to a tree, having been left unable to move for approximately five to six hours.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Miles stated the attack was not random and was orchestrated by a group who knew the young man. Police allege the boy was assaulted at a residence in the suburb of Heatley before being dumped in the park. The victim was transported to Townsville University Hospital in stable condition but required surgery for several bone fractures.
The investigation, which involved examining a vehicle linked to a collision near the discovery site, has led to charges against various individuals. Those charged include a 13-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, three 15-year-old boys, and several adults aged 24 to 40. Charges include torture, deprivation of liberty, and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
