Queensland Police investigate $1.7 million sheep theft near Blackall

Queensland Police detectives are appealing for public assistance following the theft of approximately 5,500 Dorper sheep from a property near Blackall. The theft, involving both ewes and rams, is estimated to be worth more than $1.7 million.

Investigations suggest the livestock was stolen from a property on the Blackall-Isisford Road between February and May 2026. The sheep are identifiable by white National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) tags.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Elliot of the Rural and Stock Crime Squad noted that livestock theft causes substantial financial losses and places significant pressure on farming businesses. Authorities are seeking information regarding suspicious stock movements, livestock transport activity, or any unusual behavior in the area during the period in question.
