Queensland Police observe Day for Daniel to promote child safety

October 30 marks Day for Daniel, an initiative in Queensland dedicated to honoring the legacy of Daniel Morcombe. The event focuses on child safety, harm prevention, and the importance of community-wide proactive strategies to protect children.

As part of this legacy, Daniel’s Law was introduced in Queensland last year to provide parents and guardians with tools to safeguard children. Data released as of October 27, 2026, shows significant engagement with the Daniel’s Law Community Protection website, recording over 425,000 visits.

Additional statistics include more than 48,000 Locality Search applications and 263 Parent and Guardian Disclosure applications. These disclosure applications led to the identification of 23 reportable offenders, with three individuals charged for allegedly breaching reporting obligations. Acting Detective Chief Superintendent Troy Pukallus emphasized that child protection is a shared responsibility between families, communities, and police services.
