Ashley Paul Griffith approved for extradition to NSW
Ashley Paul Griffith, a former childcare worker, has been approved for extradition from Queensland to New South Wales to face approximately 180 additional child sexual offence charges. Griffith is currently serving a life sentence in Queensland after pleading guilty to 307 offences involving 65 victims.
The Brisbane Magistrates Court granted the transfer following applications from the New South Wales and Queensland Attorneys-General. The new charges relate to alleged offences committed against 23 girls at a Sydney childcare centre between 2014 and 2017.
During the court proceedings, Griffith faced verbal outbursts from a victim supporter. The extradition follows the dismissal of Griffith's appeal against his Queensland sentence in June.
