Queensland police officer stabbed in neck during Brisbane callout

A newly graduated Queensland police officer is in stable condition after being stabbed in the neck and torso during a domestic disturbance call in Hemmant, east of Brisbane. The incident occurred around 5:15 AM on a Sunday morning at a residence on Bogong Street.

According to the Queensland Police Union, the officer—a man in his 40s who previously worked for the Red Cross—had been on the job for approximately 10 weeks. Despite sustaining life-threatening injuries, the officer reportedly chased the suspect and deployed a taser while managing his own bleeding. A second officer was also injured, sustaining a slash to the forehead.

The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle before being apprehended and taken into custody around 7:00 AM. While the weapon used was described as an “implement” rather than a knife, police are continuing their investigation into the attack.
