Queensland Premier pitches critical minerals to JD Vance

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli met with US Vice President JD Vance in Washington, DC, to pitch the state’s critical minerals industry for funding and commodity purchase agreements. The trade mission aims to secure investment for Queensland projects as the United States seeks to reduce China’s dominance in the sector through multibillion-dollar deals involving the US and Australian governments.

During the mission, Crisafulli and leaders from five companies met with various US finance agencies and government departments. Crisafulli stated that Queensland is uniquely positioned to provide a safe and secure supply chain for its allies.

Additionally, the Queensland government signed a five-year memorandum of cooperation with the government of California. This partnership is intended to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, technology, and expertise within the agricultural sector.
