Queensland Rail reaches in-principle deal with two unions
Queensland Rail has reached an in-principle deal with the Rail, Tram and Bus Union and The Services Union regarding a Train Control Enterprise Agreement. The agreement covers more than 270 employees and includes an 8.5 per cent wage increase over three years, alongside a strategic delivery allowance and potential cost-of-living relief payments based on inflation.
Despite the agreement, commuters will not see a full restoration of the train timetable immediately. While 135 weekly services were recently restored during peak periods in south-east Queensland, Queensland Rail warned that a maintenance backlog and previous industrial action continue to prevent a return to full service levels.
This development follows a previous agreement reached in June that covered nearly 3,500 employees. Negotiations are ongoing for other staff, including network and rollingstock employees.
