Queensland residents face severe weather and storm season warnings

Residents in Queensland are being urged to prepare for an approaching severe weather season. In Cairns, Mayor Amy Eden and the Local Disaster Management Group have advised citizens to develop emergency plans and pack kits containing food, water, and medications to mitigate risks from cyclones, flooding, and storm surges.

Simultaneously, severe thunderstorm and flash flooding warnings have been issued for Brisbane and surrounding regions. Heavy rainfall has already impacted areas such as Caboolture and Morayfield, with some locations receiving over 100 millimetres of rain within a two-hour period. The Bureau of Meteorology has advised residents in Brisbane's western suburbs to secure vehicles, stay indoors, and avoid driving during the storms.
